Looking Back

I carved Looking Back just to get some practice at carving a heron. In the serpentine log at the base of the piece is carved a series of faces in varying stages of agony. The heron being a symbol of care, presides over them offering his protection. This sculpture is roughly 14in high by8in wide by 5in deep. and is carved from black walnut wood.

Looking Back lives on a property in British Columbia named Heron Manor.
