Cassandra

Cassandra is based on a Greek myth about a young woman who could accurately foresee the future. The god Apollo warned her that a young warrior, Agamemnon.would visit and request that she reveal his future. The gods did not wish for her to do this.

Cassandra fell in love with the warrior, however and told him all he wanted to know. Her punishment for disobeying the gods was that although she would be able to tell the future as accurately as she always had, from that point in time on, no one would believe her.

Many parents of teenagers have experienced this, the plight of Cassandra. This sculpture is roughly 3ft high by 18in wide by 4n deep. It is carved from catalpa wood.
